The main purpose of the development of Astana for the period until 2014 is to improve the quality of life through sustainable socio-economic development, as it is defined in the message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan and the Strategic Plan of Sustainable Development of Astana City until 2030. The tasks are set to achieve this goal including further development of industrial parks and investment projects, strengthening the position of small and medium-sized business within the urban economy through the development of public-private partnerships, organizing trade fairs, exhibitions, the further implementation of the government housing program, reducing inflation to 6-7 per cent, improving the educational system, improving the quality of health services in the further development of scientific-educational and medical clusters, an integrated package of measures aimed at strengthening the work with employers, unions and  non-government organizations  of the capital of avoiding unnecessary loss of jobs, availability of hidden unemployment and joint action for social protection of dismissed workers.
